Street workout manufacturer Industrias Agapito has supplied and installed three new calisthenics equipment and senior playground areas in Alcorcón, Madrid.
Practicing sports in the open air has become a way of life and, specifically, calisthenics already has many followers since it is a non-aggressive sport that uses the weight of the body to work on strength, without need for additional equipment, only with the calisthenics equipment itself.
The areas where these calisthenics zones have been created are: Fuente Cisneros, Calle Berlín and Parque de la República. Alcorcón city, which already has three other calisthenics parks installed on Calle Olímpico Francisco Fernández, in the Ensanche Sur and on Avenida de Lisboa, is once again committed to this discipline that is in great demand among young people.
The Parque de la República, with a surface area of 400 m2, includes a very complete sports area with a Street Workout zone and a Senior Park to provide suitable elements for practicing sports in the widest possible range of ages. It is one of the pioneer areas in Spain in compliance with the new ORDER/TMA851/2021 on accessibility and non-discrimination for access and use of urbanized public spaces.
The Calisthenics area includes sets with horizontal ladders, wall bars, fixed bars at different heights, wave bar, 1 multi grip pull up bar, etc., and other individual calisthenics elements such as parallel bars and adapted monkey bars, sit-up benches, and triple push-up bars. The senior playground, with pedal benches, hand bikes, a double helix for wrist work station, is accessible to people with reduced mobility.
The design of the area includes an IPA (accessible pedestrian itinerary), with tactile pavement according to the TMA 851 2021 guidelines.
The Fuente Cisneros and Calle Berlín parks are Street Workout training areas with various equipment for practicing Calisthenics, such as a complete set of 18 poles that allows the development of physical abilities like flexibility, strength and resistance through different exercises. In this case, the areas have been covered with sand in compliance with the EN1177 Standard.
Alcorcón City Council has invested in these healthy sport areas so that all its residents, of any age, incorporate healthy habits, such as exercise in the open air, into their daily lives.
