Inclusive Playground for the Seville Town of La Rinconada

Ubicación: La Rinconada (Spain)
The municipality of La Rinconada, in Seville, has inaugurated a new playground that focuses on accessibility, thematic design, and inclusion as its core principles. It is a modern and safe space equipped with play structures by Industrias Agapito.
The highlight of the playground is the themed multi-play structure “The Cidadel”, a large installation inspired by medieval European fortresses. Composed of several interconnected towers, this castle creates an adventurous setting through detailed decorations including shields, pennants, eagles, wolves, and other graphic elements that stimulate symbolic play and children’s imagination. Its design invites climbing, exploring, interacting, and role-playing in a world of knights and castles.
The playground also features inclusive elements to ensure accessible play for all. The Tribox mixed swing combines a flat seat with another specially adapted seat for children with disabilities. Made from rotomolded polyethylene and equipped with a folding, rigid harness, it allows all children to swing safely and comfortably.
Additionally, there is an inclusive seesaw with capacity for up to eight users, designed so that children in wheelchairs can play alongside those who are standing, encouraging group play and face-to-face interaction.
In terms of safety and surroundings, the playground has been fitted with a continuous EPDM rubber surface over an SBR base, offering excellent cushioning in case of falls. This flooring not only meets safety standards but also allows for the incorporation of decorative colors and shapes, enhancing the aesthetic and playful value of the space. The entire area is enclosed by a metal fence with colorful slats, which defines the children’s area while creating a cheerful, attractive, and secure environment.
With this initiative, La Rinconada continues to make strides in developing public spaces for everyone—where fun, accessibility, and creativity come together in an environment designed for children’s well-being and enjoyment.
